ITV on Sky DigitalOn 21 November 2001, ITV1 finally launched on Sky Digital as an FTV channel, following a couple of weeks of tests. ITV2 is also available on EPG channel 226, but this currently requires a Sky Subscription. All sixteen main ITV regions are available, with EPG channel 103 being allocated to the ITV for the region your card was issued for. In those regions where more than one ITV is normally available, up to an extra two will be available on EPG channels 693 and 694 (personally I get Central on 103 and Yorkshire on 693). However, all sixteen regions are available through the 'Add Channels' facility, though this is slightly awkward to use. To add the channels not shown in the EPG press 'Services', '4 - System Setup', and '4 - Add Channels'. Then you need to input the Frequency of the transponder, Polarity, Symbol Rate, and FEC - all the channels use the same Symbol Rate (22,000) and FEC (5/6), and two of the transponders use the same polarity. You then scroll down to the last entry 'Find Channels' and press the 'Select' button, as prompted on screen, once the list of channels appears, use the 'Yellow' button to select the ones you want - again, it's all explained on screen. The channels are spread over three transponders, and you need to go through this procedure for each one to get all the channels. Be aware these are all on Astra 2D, which has a tighter footprint, some viewers outside the UK may not get them all.
To view the channels once stored, you press 'Services', '6 - Other Channels', and then select the channel you want followed by 'Select'. |
